As the New England Patriots offer exchanges to fans who have purchased Aaron Hernandez’s jerseys, the former Patriot tight end’s jerseys have been selling on eBay for more than twice the original cost.
As ABC News reports, one seller, “Ben Kent, 32, of Virginia Beach, listed his red #81 Hernandez jersey on eBay on Wednesday evening for $50. Bidding for the jersey had reached $227.50 mid-day on Monday, only hours before the auction closes. The jersey has been viewed over 2,300 times.”
Another seller, John Lamothe of Florida,”sold his Hernandez jersey for $289 on Sunday through eBay after listing it for $15, as first reported by the Boston Globe.”
The auction site said listing the jerseys is not a violation of its policies.
Hernandez pled not guilty to the first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd last week. He has been denied bail twice and will be in jail until his trial starts.
