Antonio Smith Swings Helmet at Opponent

Dolphins guard Richie Incognito, who not only is consistently in consideration for best name in the NFL but is also one of the game’s nastiest players, and Texans end Antonio Smith just do not like each other. That animosity reared its head again on Saturday in a play that is now under review by the NFL.

Last year, Incognito and Smith had an encounter that involved the offensive lineman stepping on the Texans’ ankle and the defensive end responding with a kick to his opponent.

Now, Smith has taken it a step further by taking off Incognito’s helmet in Saturday’s preseason game and swinging it at his nemesis.

The play went unnoticed in the course of the game, but Dolphins’ coach Joe Philbin has sent the play to the league for review. After last season’s incident, Smith was fined $11,000 but was disappointed to hear that Incognito was cleared of wrongdoing. Given the video, it is unlikely the NFL will reverse course in the ruling this time around.
