Oregon to Wear Pink Against Washington State

To provide support for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, the Oregon Ducks, arguably the most intimidating team to have on the schedule due to their high powered offense and stellar defense, will have pink helmets, gloves, socks, and cleats when they suit up against Washington State this week.

The fund was started by former North Carolina State women’s basketball coach Kay Yow and raises money to fight women’s cancers. Twenty five helmets worn in the game will be auctioned off on October 19.

Oregon has become well known for their diverse and eye-popping uniforms. However, pink, previously primarily seen in college football only in Iowa’s visitor’s locker rooms as a means of insulting opponents, is a unique step as a bold uniform statement.
