Incognito Unleashed: Reinstated Guard Goes Off on Jonathan Martin

Richie Incognito struck a conciliatory tone last week upon the Miami Dolphins reinstating him. “I support @ J Martin71 100% in his return to football in 2014,” he Tweeted last Tuesday.

The accused bully changed his tune dramatically on Thursday. “The truth is going to bury you and your entire ‘camp,'” he said in a tweet directed at his accuser Jonathan Martin. “You could have told the truth the entire time.”

In a series of tweets, Incognito claimed that Martin had once expressed a desire to kill himself because of on-field struggles and that the voice mail at the center of the controversy–in which Incognito used a racial slur and threatened to kill Martin and slap his mother–was understood by Martin at the time as a joke. Jonathan Martin left the Dolphins in October, and soon thereafter the team suspended Incognito.

It’s unclear what, if anything, changed behind the scenes between last Wednesday and today to set off the online outburst. The NFL is scheduled to soon release a report on the dispute. “I’m ready to move on with my life and career,” Incognito explained on Wednesday. “I’ve been dragged through the mud for months by my ‘best friend.’ #betrayed #railroaded.”
