Some Philadelphia Eagles fans are urging Eagles rookie Dallas Goedert to change his first name because he shares it with his new team’s arch rival, the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles and the Cowboys have been trading barbs for years, now. The latest round in that war was when former Eagles kicker David Akers took the stage during the 2018 Draft and kicked the Cowboys not just a few times as he announced his team’s 49th pick of tight end Dallas Goedert.

But fans seem to have a small problem with their newest rookie and it all has to do with that darned first name. Apparently “Dallas” is rubbing them raw, both as a rival team, and as the name of their new rookie.

With that in mind, the rookie from South Dakota State himself made note that some Eagles wags started a GoFundMe page to urge Goedert to drop his first name so that he is more Philly friendly.

“The irony is that Philly actually traded up to the 49th spot to pick Goedert,” 12Up noted amusingly. Just in time to snatch him away from the Dallas Cowboys, who were reportedly waiting to draft him at 50th.
