Mossberg 590M: A Game Changer for Pump Shotguns

Mossberg 590M: A Game Changer for Pump Shotguns

The Mossberg 590M is a pump shotgun that takes detachable magazines with capacities of five rounds, ten rounds, 15 rounds, or 20 rounds.

In other words, the 590M is a game changer.

The 590M with a heat shield weighs approximately eight pounds and is extremely balanced. You shoot it and immediately forget that a magazine holding 15 or 20 rounds is hanging from it. And the heat shield model, which is the model being reviewed, has a rear ghost ring sight with an orange front sight that naturally comes on target.

The gun is accurate and utterly dependable.

We have currently been shooting six shot out in the 590M and will soon transition to Federal 00 Buck Vital-Shok to show what is possible with this shotgun.

This 590M certainly approaches perfection for a home defense or campground shotgun.

Think about it this way — perhaps you currently have a three, five, or seven round pump shotgun sitting by the bed at night for home defense. The 590M gives you seven plus eight if you get the 15 round magazine. It gives you seven plus thirteen if you get the 20 round magazine.

It is literally a game changer for home defense and for self-defense at a campsite in an isolated mountain setting.

The MSRP on the 590M with heat shield is $801.00.

We will be publishing a long-term review after working the gun against a variety of targets using the Federal Premium 00 Buck and Federal Premium TruBall Deep Penetrator Rifled Slug.
