Despite Intense Aug. Heat — Alien Families, Minors Cross Border in Dramatic Numbers

Despite the intense summer heat, thousands of illegal alien minors and families risked their lives to illegally cross the U.S. border with Mexico in August. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials reported this week that the apprehension of Family Unit Aliens (FMUA) and Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) rose by 37 and 20 percent respectively. These numbers represent the fourth straight month of dramatic increases for these two categories of illegal immigration.

Stiff Sentences Given for Five Human Smuggling Stash House Operators

Five men in the Rio Grande Valley received prison sentences ranging from 16 to 30 years each for their roles in a human smuggling stash house kidnapping scheme. The men stole the human cargo from a stash house and then demanded the victims call family members to pay a ransom for their release. Two other previously deported illegal aliens also received sentences in the case.

Death, Snakes, Injury Await Smuggled Aliens in South Texas

U.S. Border Patrol agents found two deceased illegal aliens on ranches in Brooks County, Texas, on Thursday. A Justice of the Peace pronounced them dead after agents found them in the sand located about 80 miles north of the Texas border with Mexico. Officials transported the bodies to the Webb County Coroner’s Office.

Border Patrol Agents Bust 8 More Sex Offenders, Criminal Aliens in Week

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Sector kept eight previously deported alien sex offenders and criminals from re-entering the U.S. shortly after they illegally crossed. The arrests came in less than one week and followed the apprehension of three other alien sex offenders the earlier this month.

86 Guatemalans Arrested at Texas Border in Single Incident

As the surge of illegal aliens continues to mount in South Texas, Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector capped off a busy day by arresting one group of 86 illegal aliens and seizing more than $1 million worth of marijuana. Agents also carried out a rescue of an illegal alien lost in the brush and, unfortunately, recovered the remains of another migrant who was not as lucky. All of these incidents occurred in the RGV Sector on Monday.

Border Patrol agents working out of the Buffalo Station in New York responded to a call about suspected illegal aliens at a gas station. After investigating, the agents arrested three, including one with an arrest warrant for indecent liberties with a child from North Carolina.

Feds Seize Almost $8M in Drugs over Two Days on Texas Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and Border Patrol agents teamed up to seize almost $8 million in drugs at and near the Texas-Mexico Border in Laredo this week. Laredo is on the north bank of the Rio Grande River opposite Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Border Patrol agents and El Paso Fire Department rescue teams recovered the bodies of two illegal immigrant teenagers and a young woman earlier this week. The three illegal immigrants were reportedly attempting to cross the border from Mexico into the U.S. Emergency crews on both sides of the border rescued seven other people swept downstream by rapid currents in the Rio Grande.
