Syrian Kurds Struggle to Contain Islamic State Prison Riots

Islamic State militants on Monday night staged their second prison riot in 24 hours at the holding facility in Hasakah, a city in northeastern Syria controlled by Kurdish forces. Kurdish officials said they narrowly avoided a “catastrophe” and warned they are having increasing difficulty controlling the ISIS prison population.

France Sending Charles de Gaulle Aircraft Carrier to Middle East

France’s nuclear powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is being tasked with a support role in the Middle East to back the country’s military operations in the region, President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday. He added a protection force is being supplied by naval elements from Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, and Greece.
