Report: Middle East Refugees to Begin Arriving to U.S. from Australia

The first group of 1,250 mostly male Middle Eastern refugees is expected to soon arrive in the United States from Australia. The transfer of refugees comes after President Trump failed to shutter an Obama-era deal that could bring tens of thousands of the refugees’ family members to the U.S. in years to come.

First Trump Inauguration ‘Blac Bloc’ Anarchist Sentenced to Prison

A federal judge sentenced one of the 234 people arrested during rioting in Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day to prison. The defendant admitted he joined with 200 others to form a “Black Bloc” wearing black, gloves, scarves, ski masks, gas masks, and goggles to conceal their identities. He also carried a black flag, a hammer, and a gas mask. He is the first to be sentenced in connection with the riots.

Demonstrations in Caracas, Venezuela turned violent on Wednesday, bringing a police response that included a Venezuelan National Guard armored car running into a crowd of demonstrators after a firebomb was thrown at it.
