Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith, the Fifth Hero of Chattanooga

The five men who were killed in Chattanooga were heroes, not just because they died in service to their country, but because of what they did while they were alive. The fifth, Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith, succumbed to his wounds over the weekend, so he was not part of the tribute I wrote for the four Marines on Friday. Allow me to correct that omission.

CFPB Now Regulating Potholes

This foray into the potholes and backroads of Tennessee is a new area of regulatory control, even for the CFPB. But, as American Banker reported, Congress granted the CFPB the authority to do so in an obscure passage of the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010, known more commonly as the Dodd-Frank Act.
