Son of Sinaloa Cartel Boss Arrested in Mexico

The son of legendary Sinaloa Cartel boss Ismael “el Mayo Zambada” is in custody of Federal Mexican Prosecutors in Mexico City, just one day after he was arrested in the State of Sinaloa.

Ismael “El Mayito Gordo” Zambada Imperial was the target of an operation by military forces in a rural community near the Mexican city of Culiacan Sinaloa, information released to Breitbart Texas by a source within Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office shows.  While details of the operation have not yet been released by Mexican authorities, Zambada Imperial was arrested on Wednesday along with a small group of suspected henchmen.

Mexican authorities are expected to make a formal announcement later today.

Soon after his arrest, Zambada Imperial was taken to Mexico City to begin the formal judicial process for the charges of drug conspiracy.

Zambada’s father, “El Mayo” is the legendary kingpin who along with Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman forged the Sinaloa Cartel into a multinational crime syndicate. After Guzman’s arrest, the elder Zambada is said to have taken the reigns of the largest drug cartel in Mexico.

Zambada Imperial is the third son of “El Mayo” to face prosecution. In 2009 Vicente “El Vicentillo” Zambada Niebla, another of “El Mayo’s sons” was arrested in Mexico City and then extradited to the United States. In 2013, U.S. federal agents arrested his brother Serafin Zambada in Arizona.
