U.S. Border Patrol agents saved a young woman abandoned by her human smugglers when she could not keep up. Agents found her unresponsive and showing symptoms of heat stroke, a potentially life-threatening condition.

Agents assigned to the Laredo Sector found the woman in distress while they were working on a ranch near the small border city of El Cenizo, Texas. They were tracking a group of individuals whom they suspected were illegal aliens, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials.

After finding her unconscious, the agents carried her several hundred yards to where their vehicle was parked.

The agents notified dispatch to call for medical assistance, but an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) trained Border Patrol agent arrived first and began to help stabilize her and bring her body temperature down until emergency first responders arrived.

Officials later determined the woman to be a Guatemalan national.

“The fact that these smugglers abandoned this young lady in the unforgiving terrain and left her to die with temperatures sweltering over one hundred degrees demonstrates how callous and heartless these smuggling organizations are. Had it not been for our agents’ determination to locate every single person in the group, she would not have received crucial medical assistance within the golden hour, and this young lady would have succumbed to the extreme elements,” Laredo Sector Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Gabriel Acosta said in a written statement.

Officials with CBP repeated their commitment to “continue to warn against the dangers of people crossing illegally into the United States through dangerous environmental conditions.” They described their Border Safety Initiative (BSI) as “a humanitarian, bi-national strategy designed to reduce illegal alien deaths, educate and inform potential illegal aliens of the dangers and hazards of crossing the border illegally, and to respond to those who are in life-threatening situations.”

Breitbart Texas continues to report about those who are left to die and do die by human smugglers – most of whom are connected to the cartels. If a person who is being smuggled falls behind because they are suffering from dehydration, injury, or exhaustion, the coyotes simply leave them behind to die in the hot Texas sun. These cold and merciless smugglers have no qualms about leaving small children behind – including in order to use them as bait to detract border patrol agents.

This writer reported frequently from the “Killing Fields of Brooks County,” located about 80 miles north of the Texas/Mexico border, where the Falfurrias Checkpoint is located. Often, the deaths of these migrants place a financial hardship on small border counties near and along the U.S.-Mexico border. These communities often bear the cost of having to dispose of human remains of illegal immigrants left by these callous human smugglers.

Breitbart Texas reported that Brooks County saw an increase in 2016 in the numbers of deaths of these aliens. On June 22, we reported that three illegal immigrants trying to circumvent the checkpoint in Falfurrias, Texas, were found dead in just a single day.

“We are at 24 (bodies recovered) so far this year,” Brooks County Sheriff Benny Martinez told Breitbart Texas. “This is well ahead of where we were this time last year and we ended last year with 61.”

In April 2016, Breitbart Texas reported about the brutal conditions the illegal aliens are exposed to as a result of then-President Obama’s open border policies. Many of the most caring people in the U.S. think they are helping the poor from Latin America by leaving our southwestern border wide-open between the ports-of-entry, but they are not.

The article focused on the harsh treatment of those being smuggled through the border regions to Texas’ largest cities where women are often raped, immigrants are held for ransom, and others are left to die in ranch fields when they cannot keep up with their group.
