Ever Get the Feeling the American People Are Going One Way and Obama Is Going Another?

Have you ever noticed that when Obama talks, the America about which he speaks is far different from the America we grew accustomed to living in before 2009? It’s almost as if America the exceptional has been traded for America the mediocre, and the robust American dream has been replaced by government handouts, “free” contraceptives, and a government-endorsed fire hazard green car called the Chevy Volt (that they have to pay us to buy via tax refunds and other perks).

But the American people don’t see things the way Obama does: they certainly don’t see proper governance of this country the way he does. Thus more and more polls show a significant and growing divide between those who support Obama’s agenda and those who are tired of it. For example, because all the “free” stuff Obama’s giving away has to be paid for by someone, the President is pushing for higher taxes on the wealthy whom he claims need “to pay their fair share.” But 75% of Americans think the wealthy are already paying too much.

Think about that. Class-warfare is one of Obama’s most common tactics, yet three-quarters of the American people think it’s over the top.

Or consider his rejection of the Keystone Pipeline in January.

The bottom line here is that he sees a green car nation although America is still a SUV nation. People own SUVs and pickup trucks because those are the vehicles they want, and in many cases the vehicles they need, for their families or for their jobs. Yet instead of doing all he can to bring the price of gasoline down so Americans can fuel the cars they want to drive, Obama tries to show us a better way with the union-made electric car that catches on fire when you park it in the garage at night. Here there is such a discrepancy between what Obama sees and what the average American needs that Oklahoma and Texas are going ahead with plans to build sections of the Keystone Pipeline in their states anyway. No, it won’t connect them to Canadian oil, but it will allow Oklahoma (and surrounding areas) to send more oil to Texas refineries, which in turn can produce more gasoline for Americans from American sources.

And what about Obamacare, the government takeover of our healthcare system which was literally crammed down our throats under the cover of night in March 2010? Before, during, and since its passage, the majority of Americans have been opposed to it. Thus lawsuits against it have been filed or joined by Florida, Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Still, Obama just keeps standing there, telling us how great things will be once it’s implemented.

The more you look at these and other examples, the more it’s evident that Obama is going one way and the American people are going another. We’re clinging bitterly to all that we’ve held dear, while he’s pulling a paradigm shift that furthers his plan to “fundamentally transform America.”
