Chinese Leaders to Forgo Red Carpets

Chinese leaders in the Politburo are now saying they will no longer avail themselves of red carpets, welcoming flowers, and banners.

It was just over a month ago that Beijing was censoring reports that a family member of Chinese premier Wen Jiabao had amassed nearly $2.7 billion in assets.

Now, news is breaking that makes it look like the Chinese premier may be trying to smooth things over a bit with the Chinese people on this issue.

Leaders will also no longer be bused to airports to meet incoming dignitaries. An agreement has also been reached to cut the size of “leaders’ entourages on official domestic and oversees visits.”

The leaders say they are doing this things “in order to remain close with the public.”
