Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), a freshman who was elected to the U.S. Senate last year after a long career in business, told Breitbart News he’s seriously concerned about illegal alien violence in Georgia. His state, Atlanta’s WSBT reports, is quickly becoming a “border state” that must deal with an illegal immigrant crime wave.
One of the victims mentioned in the report, Manju Poonmagar, emigrated to the United States legally and resided in Georgia. She was killed outside of her apartment in 2013 by illegal alien Sergio Vera-Lula. Vera-Lula had already been deported to Mexico three times, but repeatedly returned to the U.S. illegally. Vera-Lula pled guilty and was given a life sentence.
The report analyzed the U.S.immigration and Customs Enforcement removal records from fiscal years 2003-2013 and found a pattern of undocumented repeat offenders returning to the United States.
Of the 386,485 unauthorized immigrants removed from the United States in 2013, 222,972 of them – 60% – had at least prior removal. 42,116 of the total unauthorized immigrants removed that year had been convicted of an aggravated felony. Of those felons, 27,159 had been removed before. That’s 64%.
Among the aggravated felons who had been removed at least once before were 281 killers, 178 kidnappers, 1149 sex criminals and thousands convicted on drug charges.
Perdue responded to the report by telling Breitbart News that “The reality is violent illegal immigrants are repeatedly entering our country and posing a dangerous risk to our families and communities.”
“Too many victims have unjustly suffered the consequences of President Obama’s lawless executive amnesty and lack of action to address this illegal immigration crisis,” Perdue added. “As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I cosponsored Kate’s Law and several other measures to stop the influx of illegal felons into Georgia and the United States.”
