Bill, Chelsea Clinton honored by Harvard School of Public Health

BOSTON, Oct. 25 (UPI) —

The Harvard School of Public health gave former President Clinton and his daughter, Chelsea, awards for their work in health programs, the school said.

The awards, for the Clintons and others, were presented in Boston Thursday during the school’s 100th anniversary celebration, The Boston Globe reported.

President Clinton received the Centennial Medal, along with Dr. Jim Yong Jim, president of the World Bank Group and former faculty member of the Harvard School of Public Health, and Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, former prime minister of Norway and director general of the World Health Organization.

Chelsea Clinton was awarded the Next Generation Award for her work on health programs as vice chairwoman of the Clinton Foundation.

During the ceremony, President Clinton praised Harvard’s training of healthcare leaders in Rwanda.

"The antidote to all the destruction in the world today, and the only antidote as nearly as I can determine, is consistent, disciplined devotion to creating networks of cooperation," he said. "We know the world is interdependent. We have known that at least since the fall of the Berlin Wall … that only means we cannot escape each other. Divorce is not an option, either from each other or from the planet we all inhabit."
