Andrea Lafferty: ‘Broader Agenda’ At Work Behind Transgender Bathroom Crusade, ‘It’s Also About Schools’

Andrea Lafferty, president of the Traditional Values Coalition, tells Breitbart News Daily with SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon: “We applaud what the governor did down there, when he pushed back against the crazy Obama Administration.”

Lafferty says she supports North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory’s lawsuit against the federal government over the “bathroom bill.”

“The Obama Administration has taken Title VII of the Civil Rights Act – it was designed to prevent discrimination on the basis of sex – and they’ve created a whole new class of accommodations, for a minuscule part of the population,” she continued. “And so the Obama Administration, time and again, has tried to force government entities to accept this gender identity issue, the bathroom issue, against common sense and the will of the people.”

Lafferty said this coercive agenda goes far beyond the transgender bathroom controversy.

“They’re taking whatever law that’s out there, and twisting and perverting it,” she said. “We see it with regulatory actions, with EPA and others. This Administration is corrupt. This Administration has tried to use the heavy hand of government to force the American people to comply, on a range of issues.”

Lafferty worried that the public didn’t fully understand the significance of the bathroom issue.

“This is not just about a guy going into a women’s bathroom at Target, or wherever. It’s also about schools,” she explained. “There is a broader agenda, and I hope those that are running for office will understand this.”

She noted, for example, that in New York, “the governor and the mayor have forced all kinds of crazy regulatory things on people up there, from Coke size to whatever.”

Lafferty had some advice for those who wish to fight back against activist government and its aggressive social agenda, beginning with an admonition to “make sure you know what’s going on in your kids’, and your grandkids’, schools.”

“Don’t shop at Target,” she continued, alluding to the boycott against the retail giant for its anything-goes bathroom policies. “We need to send a message to Target. You might not live in North Carolina, so at this moment you don’t have any skin in the game, but you will, because this is going to every state, every community. Don’t let your little girl go into Target and try on a bathing suit right now. Don’t buy anything from Target.”

“Speak out. Don’t be afraid to express how you’re feeling about this issue,” she urged. “We are talking about a miniscule number of people who are psychologically unhealthy, and the people on the Left are saying it’s okay for them to go into bathrooms, it’s okay for them to be teachers. You know, this is a part of a move to say, if your teacher, if Mr. Smith decides he wants to be Mrs. Smith, the teacher cannot be reassigned out of the classroom. How confusing is that for kids?”

“We know – we fought this issue here in Fairfax, we’ve been fighting Wal-Mart with this issue in Bentonville, Arkansas – we know that the ‘best practices’ is, if a boy thinks he’s a girl, he can try out for the track team, or the band, as a girl,” Lafferty elaborated. “And then when the team travels, the boy who thinks he’s a girl gets to sleep in the room with the girls, because that’s part of the social experience.”

“That’s what’s going on. It’s a big picture. It’s not just about North Carolina. It’s not just about public bathrooms,” she said. “And, by the way, there are multiple cases – one of them, Steven, took place in Washington State, there was a man who said he was a woman, in the women’s bathroom changing area. This is about showers, changing facilities. When the police were called, and they took a report, the report said she was sitting, exposing her male genitalia.”

“If that doesn’t paint the picture of what we’re looking at, nothing does,” Lafferty declared. “This is what we’re going to be seeing in schools, in public schools, in bathrooms. Let’s get these individuals who suffer from gender-identity issues, let’s get them some help.”
