Wasserman Schultz Tries to Preempt Rubio's SOTU Response

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz held an phone press conference with fellow Democratic Congressman Chris Van Hollen to basically try to take steam away from Senator Marco Rubio’s anticipated bi-lingual response to President Obama’s State of the Union address.

Wasserman Schultz does not disappoint her detractors by sticking to the Democratic party talking points that are aimed at demonizing Rubio and Republicans as being ‘anti-Granny’ for supporting the Ryan Budget plan.

Here are some of the excerpts from Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz’s statement about Senator Rubio’s response to the SOTU.

-The American people rejected the Romney-Ryan ticket because they offered nothing to middle class families.

-Ryan Budget: an extreme view of government that would dismantle America’s social safety net in order to pay for tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.

-The Ryan Plan that Senator Rubio supports, would also gut Medicaid by $810 billion.

–Benefits such as early prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for sick or disabled children, and behavioral therapies for autistic children could also be eliminated.

-I find it shocking that someone who represents millions of seniors who depend on Medicare’s guaranteed coverage would support the Ryan Budget and ending Medicare as we know it.

Senator Rubio even said that programs like Medicare and Social Security “weakened us as a people.”-Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz
