Senate Intel Chief: So Many Terrorists in Europe, Weekly Attacks Possible

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) said it is possible terrorist attacks could start occurring weekly in Europe given of the large number of jihadists returning from training and fighting in Syria.

When asked about his weekly warning, Burr said, “Well, I think certainly that’s a tempo that we could reach given the number of folks who have gone in and out of Syria. And now we’re learning the extent of how much they went into places like Yemen early on. So, you know, I think we’re going to learn a lot more as time goes on. This is an event that continues to unfold from a standpoint of intelligence. I think what we’ve got to do is be vigilant at home to make sure we keep in place those tools that give us the ability to triage that data in a way that we can track down anybody here in the U.S.”
