Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. sat down with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith in the comfort of his car over the weekend to discuss future opponent Manny Pacquiao, his legacy and Muhammad Ali.
Mayweather stated that there is no way he would ever believe that Muhammad Ali was better than he is.
“No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali was better than me,” said in a clip that aired on ESPN2’s Monday broadcast of “First Take.” No one could ever brainwash me and tell me that. So you want to tell me that it’s cool to lay on the ropes and take punishment and let a man tire himself out from beating you and then he’s basically fatigued. You hit him with a few punches and he go down and quit and you want to be glorified for that? Absolutely not. Not me.”
