Junius and Hattie Puryear have been married for 70 years.
“Did you always know he was the one for you?” WREG‘s April Thompson asked them.
“Yes. He prayed. Honey, tell her how you prayed,” Hattie Puryear said.
“I was praying for me a wife. I was 26-years-old. I said ‘Lord I need a wife. I want a good wife,'” Junius Puryear replied.
The two met on a blind date in 1946 and married six months later.
Hattie, 92, and Junius, 96, say they have been together for so long by keeping arguments to a minimum and their faith in God.
The couple also never had children.
Junius’ advice to other couples is to “be honorable to one another. Have the same mind as one another.”
Mr. and Mrs. Puryear say they are more in love now than they have ever been.
“Love grows. The longer you be together, the more you love,” Junius said.
