On Wednesday, Roy Moore attorney Trenton Garmon referenced “MSNBC Live” host Ali Velshi’s “diverse background” while discussing the allegations against Moore.
Garmon answered a question on why Moore would need permission from someone’s mother to date them if they weren’t underage by saying, “Culturally speaking, obviously, there’s differences. I looked up Ali’s background there, and wow, that’s awesome that you have got such a diverse background. It’s really cool to read through that.”
Host Stephanie Ruhle then asked Garmon what that had to do with someone dating someone who is underage. Garmon responded, “In other countries, there’s arrangement through parents for what we would refer to as consensual marriage.”
Ruhle then pointed out Velshi is from Canada. Garmon responded by saying, “Ali’s also spent time in other countries. … So, it’s not a bad thing.”
