Jon Stewart: Trump Baits Media by Using ‘Their Own Narcissism’ Against Them

In an interview with CNN International host Christiane Amanpour,Jon Stewart, former host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” weighed in on the continuous fight between President Donald Trump and the media.

Stewart argued that Trump “baits” journalists by using “their own narcissism” and “ego” against them, and they take his attacks personally.

“[I] think that journalists have taken it personally. They are personally wounded and offended by this man. He baits them, and they dive in,” Stewart toldAmanpour. “And what he’s done well, I thought, is appeal to their own narcissism, to their own ego, because … they say, ‘We are noble, we are honorable, how dare you, sir.’ And they take it personally.”
The comedian added that Trump has the ability to get people to fight instead of talking about his policies that may be “silly” or “not working.”

“[H]e’s changed the conversation to not that his policies are silly or not working or any of those other things, it’s all about the fight and he’s able to tune out everything else and get people just focused on the fight, and he’s going to win that fight,” he stated.
