Pelosi on SOTU Clap: ‘I Was Applauding and Saying, ‘OK, Now You’re Talking”

During a sit-down interview with MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski for Tuesday’s broadcast of “Morning Joe,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) shot down the notion her clap as President Donald Trump called for bipartisanship was out of mockery.

Brzezinski told Pelosi she “loved” the odd-looking clap because she thought there were bad intentions behind it, but Pelosi said she was clapping in approval for what Trump said.

“[A]t that moment he said he wanted to work in a bipartisan way, and while some will doubt what I say now, honestly, I was applauding and saying ‘OK, now you’re talking.’ People thought it was more a mock of him than anything and it really was a mock heard round the country,” she explained.
