Chris Rock Posts ‘Selfies’ of his Police Stops on Social Media

Comedian Chris Rock has been documenting his run-ins with law enforcement on social media. The comic has posted three photos online of himself behind the wheel in recent months, all with police vehicles in the background of the shot.

Rock tweeted this Monday:

“Stopped by the cops again wish me luck,” he commented. Back in February, the former SNL cast member shared this post:

After a Missouri grand jury declined to file charges against white police officer Darren Wilson in November for the Aug. 9 shootining of black teen Michael Brown, Rock took to Twitter to voice his opinion:

Rock referenced predatory cops in his episode of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. He and Seinfeld were pulled over in a Lamborghini, when he said: “It’d be such a better episode if he pulled me to the side and beat the s–t out of me, don’t you think? Now here’s the crazy thing: If you weren’t here, I’d be scared. I’m famous, still black. Right now, I’m looking for my license right now.”

While Rock never reveals why he was stopped in his posts, CNN has obliged readers in pointing out that, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics in 2013, blacks are about 30% more likely to be pulled over by police than whites. Per CNN, Rock is just highlighting the tendency for black drivers to be become victims of racial profiling.

Grey’s Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington, who was once fired from the show for calling homosexual co-star T.R. Knight a “faggot,” also weighed in on racially motivated police traffic stops, when he urged Chris to “adapt” to discrimination:
