Pop singer Kesha responded to the June 11 death of former The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie by demanding “gun control” for law-abiding citizens.
Breitbart News previously reported that Grimmie was shot and fatally wounded in a murder-suicide during an autograph session following a June 10 concert in Orlando, Florida. According to The Hollywood Reporter, little is known about the gunman except for the fact that he “traveled from another city in Florida to Orlando to confront [Grimmie].” He shot himself after shooting her.
E! News reports that Kesha reacted to Grimmie’s death by lamenting the fact that more gun laws have not been passed. E! News quoted an Instagram post in which Kesha wrote, “I’m shocked and horrified. And angry. How many times are we as a nation going to read a horrific story like this, where someone uses a gun to kill an innocent person, and DO NOTHING. I demand gun control.”
UK’s Mirror shows that this same anti-gun sentiment is widespread among Grimmie fans. They quoted an anonymous Grimmie fan who tweeted, “Sending love and prayers to Christina Grimmie and her family. Spread the world and make the guns get banned!!! #PrayForChristina #banguns.” And another who wrote, “Wake up America. How many more innocent people have to die before guns are banned? Shine bright Christina, such a tragedy. #RIPChristina.”
