Dr Fox Arrested for Alleged Sex Offences

Millionaire radio star disk jockey Dr. Neil Fox was arrested yesterday at his studio for alleged historic sex crimes by the Metropolitan police, and remains in custody in a central London police station.

Neil Fox, 53, was not arrested as part of the ongoing celebrity child sex policing operation Yewtreeaccording to Scotland yard, who said in a statement “Officers from Westminster have this morning, Tuesday, 30 September, arrested a 53-year-old man following allegations of historic sexual assault against two women.

“The man remains in custody at a central London police station. On 30 September, officers searched an address in SW6 and in the Littlehampton area of West Sussex. The man was arrested at a business address in W1”.

The business referred to is the Magic FM studio in Soho, from where Fox broadcast his show which has been suspended until further notice. London paper the Evening Standard reports the star had not yet lost his job in relation to the arrest, and the network owner said in a statement: “In the circumstances Neil will be off air from tomorrow to enable him to devote his full attention to dealing with these matters. All other aspects of his contract will remain unchanged while matters are resolved. We can make no further comment at this stage”.

Although this arrest is not part of operation Yewtree, it does form part of a recent spate of arrests of high-profile celebrities for sex offences which kicked off with the commencement of Yewtree almost exactly two years ago. The operation, which has been called a “witch-hunt” and being “like something you’d expect to find in the former Soviet Union” by a prominent figure in the film industry has acquitted nearly half of those arrested and released them without charge, despite forcing those concerned to remain on bail or under arrest for many months at a time.
