On Monday, California Assemblyman Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita) became the first member of the GOP to vote for the state budget in years–because he accidentally voted for it while he was dallying with Facebook, where he opposed it, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Fox 21 reported that Wilk was posting his arguments for voting against the budget and urging Gov. Jerry Brown to veto the proposed budget on Facebook when the mistake occurred.
Wilk’s inadvertent vote for the $117.5 billion spending plan, the highest in the state’s history, prompted him to apologize on Twitter:

Wilk’s nay vote, which he changed after the session ended, will be registered as such on the official legislative record. His nay vote elicited applause from Republicans but the Democrats booed him.
Republicans unanimously opposed the budget, which passed by a 53-17 vote. Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore, vice-chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, told the Santa Cruz Sentinel, “It’s not a budget bill, it’s the Legislative Paycheck Protection Act.”
