JAFFA, Israel – A Saudi-based French engineer’s conversion to Islam has been celebrated in the kingdom’s media.

The 57-year-old engineer, known as Gilbert, has worked for one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest construction companies for the past 15 years.

He joined Islam after reading theology books and thanks to lobbying on behalf of his coworkers, the director of the royal office of Dawah (spreading the message of Islam) and education of foreigners told the Saudi news site Tawasul. The conversion ceremony took place at the Johara mosque in Riyadh.

In the video of the ceremony, Gilbert is seen taking Islam upon himself, after which he was hugged by friends, coworkers and other worshippers. Watch the video below:

Last month, Breitbart Jerusalem reported that an American citizen, an employee of the emergency services at Jeddah International Airport, also converted to Islam. The Saudi media’s reaction then was equally jubilant.
