TEL AVIV – The ruling Palestinian Fatah party slammed Al Jazeera for removing an antisemitic video linking Zionism to Nazism and uploaded the video in its entirety to its official Facebook page.

The video, with the protracted title, “The Gas Chambers Killed Millions of Jews — That’s How the Story Goes. What Is the Truth behind the Holocaust and How Did the Zionist Movement Benefit from It?” was posted on the Qatari network’s online platform AJ+.

“Six million Jews were murdered by the Nazis — this is the narrative that the Zionist movement adopted and emphasizes every year in marking what is known as Holocaust Remembrance Day,” the narrator, Al Jazeera producer Muna Hawwa, explains in the video.

Following intervention by Israel’s government press office (GPO), Al Jazeera removed the video, saying it “violated the editorial standards of the network.” It later issued a statement saying it had “taken disciplinary action and suspended two of its journalists” responsible for publishing the video clip.

It added that the network “recognizes the diversity in societies with all races, cultures, beliefs, and their values and intrinsic individualities.”

According to a statement from the GPO, the Qatari network also promised to carry out periodic training for its workers in order to prevent “distortion in its reporting.”

Fatah blasted the TV network for complying with Israel.

“Al-Jazeera TV did a favor to the occupation (i.e., Israel) and erased the video. Let’s publish it again,” a post on Fatah’s official Facebook page said according to a translation by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).

The post was accompanied by the offending video.

In the clip, Hawwa states, “The number of victims of the Holocaust remains one of the most prominent historical debates to this day.”

She went on to say, “Israel is the biggest winner from the Holocaust, and it uses the same Nazi justifications as a launching pad for the racial cleansing and annihilation of the Palestinians.”

“The main ideology behind the ‘State of Israel’ is based on religious, national, and geographic concepts that suckled from the Nazi spirit and its main notions. So how can a Palestinian denounce a crime that has become the flip side of his own tragedy?” she asked.
