New information about the email members of ISIS sent to Kayla Mueller’s family about their daughter’s death supposedly contained three images of her body, sources say.

CBS News learned that one of the photos in the email sent to Carl and Marsha Mueller showed her body wrapped in a white burial shroud. ISIS claimed that the photo was proof that they had treated the 26-year-old’s body with respect.

CBS also reported that U.S. intelligence officials confirmed that the images were of the hostage and that she died “recently.”

Representatives of ISIS claimed that the woman was killed in an air strike carried out by the Jordanian air force. US officials say they have not been able to substantiate that claim, but officials do say that the woman may have been given to an ISIS fighter as a “bride.”

More information on Kayla Mueller’s actions before she was taken hostage have also come to light. It appears that Mueller was involved with a radical anti-Jewish group called the International Solidarity Movement.

A recent Washington Post article even noted that Kayla Mueller’s Palestinian activism helped lead to her death.

Mueller is the last known American in the hands of ISIS forces.
