Iran has released new footage of the American sailors they illegally detained on the eve of President Obama’s final State of the Union address, including photos of one U.S. sailor crying while in detention.

Iran has topped off the grotesque spectacle of Secretary of State John Kerry thanking them for holding American sailors prisoner, with videos intended to embarrass the captives, blasted across airwaves and the Internet by Iran’s state-run media apparatus, in clear defiance of international law.

“Prisoners of war must at all times be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity,” say the Geneva Conventions. “Prisoners of war are entitled in all circumstances to respect for their persons and their honor.”

Perhaps Kerry will thank Iran for providing the weeping sailor with a tissue.
