Drake Bell arrested on DUI suspicion

GLENDALE, Calif., Dec. 23 (UPI) — Actor Drake Bell was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Glendale, Calif.

The former Nickelodeon star, 29, was driving recklessly before being pulled over at around 2:20 a.m., Monday, swerving and speeding before a red light, the L.A. Times reports.

During the stop, authorities told the outlet Bell’s car smelled of alcohol as well, and the former Drake and Josh actor failed a sobriety test.

Before the arrest, Bell, a musician and avid social media user, had been promoting his concerts in Mexico on Twitter. He has not mentioned his arrest on social media.

In June, the celebrity apologized for a controversial tweet about Caitlyn Jenner’s transition. “Sorry…still calling you Bruce,” Bell initially wrote, prompting heavy backlash. After attempting to explain himself, Bell deleted all the tweets and wrote “That’s Bravery!” instead.
