Despite the criticism surrounding Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s religious liberty law, lawmakers in Arkansas just passed a similar bill.

According to The Washington Post, the controversy surrounding Indiana’s law put both North Carolina and Georgia on the defensive about their own pending religious liberty legislation.

The Post reported that a similar measure in North Carolina would “make no sense,” according to Gov. Pat McCrory who made the statement during a radio interview and added he would not sign any such legislation.

Additionally, Georgia lawmakers canceled a hearing over Georgia’s version of the bill Monday.

Arkansas decided to follow Indiana and going ahead with its version of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

The law now goes to Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who has said he will sign the bill into law.
