The abortion-friendly media are having a heyday challenging Carly Fiorina’s assertion during Wednesday’s debate that on the Planned Parenthood videos you can: “Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking, while someone says ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.’”
Planned Parenthood calls her a liar. Politico adds, “…at no point do they include footage of an entire aborted fetus.” Huffington Post said, “That footage doesn’t exist…” Vox said Fiorina’s claims are “pure fiction.” George Stephanopoulos told Fiorina to her face “…the harrowing scene you describe isn’t actually in those tapes.”
And Fiorina may have gotten something wrong in what she remembered. There is a fully formed fetus with legs kicking on the tape, but it is an aborted baby taken from another video source but it is clearly marked. And no one says, “We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.”
But, the video Fiorina references is, by anyone’s estimation, both brutal and gruesome and exceedingly hard to watch.
Holly O’Donnell, the StemExpress whistleblower, talks in the tape Fiorina mentions about witnessing her Planned Parenthood colleague using a medical instrument to make the heart of a fully intact, aborted baby beat. Moreover, O’Donnell describes in gruesome detail how they had to cut through the child’s face to extract its fully intact brain.
With her answer on the debate stage, Fiorina did the country a great favor. She refocused attention on the now-global scandal around selling aborted baby-parts for profit. And it is likely that many among abortion advocates were forced to watch the tapes for the very first time, if only to attempt to refute Fiorina.
Elected Democrats have repeatedly made clear they don’t want to watch the tapes. Over the summer, senior officials at the White House said they hadn’t watched them, and were not sure whether President Obama had. After the debate, the White House dismissed Carly Fiorina’s dare to President Obama to watch the Planned Parenthood videos.
