Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul says that Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (D-VT) is ultimately in favor of the Gulag.

“People laugh and say ‘Oh, Bernie is not for the Gulag,'” Paul told Breitbart News Daily host Stephen K. Bannon. “Look at the ultimate cause of what he is for, it can only be accomplished at the point of a gun.”

“The thing that scares me more about the election than on the Republican side or anything is that a significant portion of our population is wanting to choose Bernie Sanders” Paul said.  “They’re willing to embrace socalism.”

Paul went on to discuss why Sanders’ socialist ideas would lead to the gulag.

“Socialism is a failed system it leads to poverty, but it’s also ultimately is predicated on force,” Paul said. “If I want to sell microphones or chairs in a socialized system, you have to get permission from the government. And if I sell them without permission, I go to jail or get a ticket. If I continue to sell them, they come with a gun and arrest me. If I persist in doing that, it’s the gulag.”

Later in the interview, Bannon asked Paul whether we have socialism or capitalism in America.

“What we have is cronyism,” he responded. “Basically government passes out favors to their friends, but it happens on both sides.”

“The left will try to say ‘Oh yeah, Republicans are for the super rich.’ Well Democrats are also for the super rich. So when President Obama came into power he gave 500 million dollars to Solyndra. Who owns Solyndra? One of the richest men in our country.”
