A man from Glen Rock, PA, was arrested after he admitted to hiding multiple cameras in three bathrooms and taking thousands of images of women and children using the facilities over the course of several years, police say.
On May 11, Southern Regional Police in York County charged Ian Christopher Anderson with over 400 counts of child pornography and invasion of privacy.
Det. William Shafer reported that Anderson admitted to hiding the cameras in the bathrooms of a neighbor’s home, his own home, and the home of a one-time girlfriend.
Det. Shafer said Anderson was so caught up in the secret video scam that he “traveled with a camera.”
The officer said Anderson’s particular target was his girlfriend and those in her home, but he also had hundreds of images of other victims. So far, police have identified nine victims of the illicit surveillance.
Officials note that Anderson apparently kept the photos for himself and did not share them with anyone.
The suspect, who is on parole from a previous drug offense, was caught when his parole officer saw what he termed “illegal” things in Anderson’s home and asked permission from the parolee to begin looking through his belongings. The large cache of images was then discovered and reported.
According to the Patriot-News, Anderson faces a long list of charges.
He is charged with a total of 75 counts of child pornography, 39 counts of photographs or films of child sex acts involving a child, 285 counts of invasion of privacy, 30 counts of images of sex acts on computer, possession of firearm prohibited (loaded .22 caliber rifle), criminal use of a computer, and possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.
The suspect is now being held in York County prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.
