Men Dressed as Clowns Threatening to Abduct Children Reported Across Multiple States

Sightings of men dressed as clowns trying to abduct children have been reported across multiple states.

In LaGrange, Georgia, police received several calls about clowns in a van and in wooded areas trying to talk to kids.

“This behavior is not cute or funny… if applicable, you may face criminal charges,” the LaGrange police department said on Facebook.

Police were also investigating threats to kidnap children from schools in the LaGrange area.

Callaway Elementary, Franklin Forrest Elementary, Callaway Middle School, Troup High School, and Callaway High School were all named in the threat, according to The Sun.

Another clown sighting was reported in Macon, Georgia, near a school bus stop where clowns reportedly began chasing children, CBS News reported.

Residents of Dublin, Georgia, have also reported clown sightings.

Dublin Police Chief Tim Chatman said to WMAZ that the sightings began after someone said they got into a car accident Friday trying to avoid a clown in the middle of the road.

Police say there has been no evidence that the sighting was true in that case.

Clown sightings have happened outside Georgia as well.

In Greenville, South Carolina, on Aug. 24, residents at Fleetwood Manor Apartments said they saw clowns trying to lure children into the woods by displaying large amounts of money, WJW reported.

“I thought my child was seeing things,” Arnold said to WHNS. “And then the next day I had about 30 kids come up to me and say, ‘Did you see the clown in the woods?’”

The clown sightings appear not to be related, but most sightings happened to be in the southern United States.
