Former failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton signaled hope that a Republican might challenge President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination in 2020.

“Maybe even some Republicans might challenge Trump,” Hillary Clinton said. “Stay tuned. If you are interested in politics, it will be an eventful couple of years ahead of us.”

Clinton made her remarks during a conversation about American politics at the India Today Conclave 2018 with India Today editor Aroon Purie.

She explained that her first goal was to help Democrats take back the House of Representatives in the 2018 midterm elections.“That would then give us some balance that we desperately need right now,” Clinton said.

When asked if she would run for president again, she did not completely rule it out.

“No, I have no plans to do that,” she said, adding that she would do whatever it took to help the Democrats win in 2020.

Clinton comforted the audience by telling them that Trump could not irrevocably damage the United States.

“There will damage, but it will be repairable damage, and we will be doing that work starting next year with these elections,” she said.
