President Donald Trump announced Monday that he is sending his daughter Ivanka Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to attend the opening of the new United States Embassy in Jerusalem.

Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan will lead the delegation which will also include Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason D. Greenblatt.

Kushner is still tasked with developing peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians in the Middle East, despite anger from Muslim critics who do not support the embassy move.

The president is not on the list, despite taking great pride in delivering on his campaign promise to move the embassy — a decision that past administrations ultimately resisted.

“They all made campaign promises but they never had the courage to carry it out,” Trump told reporters during a press conference in April. “I carried it out.”
