Trump Proposes United States ‘Worldwide Network’ to Counter CNN Overseas

President Donald Trump again complained about CNN’s influence overseas, suggesting the United States should start a government-funded overseas network.

“Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair and false way,” Trump wrote. “Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”

The president has frequently complained about CNN’s influence overseas. In 2017, he said that they were a major source of “fake news” overseas.

The United States already funds Voice of America to broadcast news and information about America around the world
