Tiger Shoots Third-Worst Open Round as Pro

Tiger Woods, sore elbow and all, struggled mightily on Saturday in the third round of the U.S. Open at Merion, shooting his third-worst U.S. Open round as a professional.

Woods shot a 6-over 76, and went from +3 for the tournament to +9. He is 10 shots behind leader Phil Mickelson.

He struggled all the day off the tee and could not scramble for pars after he auspiciously birdied his first hole.

After the round, he said he missed a “boatload” of putts within 10 feet.
