Report: Prison Officials Examining Hernandez's Tattoos for Gang Symbols

Prison officials will be examining former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez’s tattoos to see if any are gang related and may put his life in danger while he is incarcerated.

According to the Boston Herald, Hernandez, who had reportedly been in a street gang while in high school, may have tattoos that could make him become a “target of a dangerous fellow inmate looking to boost his reputation by taking on the prison VIP and possible gang member.”

“We’ll be looking at his tattoos to see if there are any symbols that affiliate with gangs,” Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson told the Herald. “We have to always be vigilant around security and not place him somewhere where there are rival gang members.”

The official said, “We have to always be vigilant around security and not place him somewhere where there are rival gang members.”

Hernandez pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge on Wednesday and was denied bail twice. He will be in prison until his trial starts.
