The starting fullback for Denton Guyer HS in Texas, Nathan Maki, was shot and killed in a pickup truck Saturday night.
Reportedly, Maki was with other “young people” when the shooting incident occurred, and a rifle was found at the scene. Still no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and it is unclear what the circumstances were surrounding his death.
The 18-year-old football player was reportedly a positive, well-liked member of the student body and was expected to be a key contributor for his team on the gridiron this fall. More than 250 students attended a “grief session” at the school on Sunday morning when news of his death broke.
