Forbes: TV Ratings Prove NFL America's Pastime

The NFL has been smashing television ratings and is a guaranteed ratings juggernaut every week. To Forbes, that is enough evidence to declare that “there’s little denying that from the comfort of our homes and social gathering places, at least in the U.S., the National Football League is America’s Pastime.”

Breitbart News reported that nine of the 10 most highly rated television broadcasts, according to Nielsen, in 2013 were NFL games. Nielsen has even more staggering numbers — “the NFL accounts for 30 of the 31 most-watched shows since Labor Day. For 15 straight weeks, one NFL game or another has been tops on national television.”

In addition, “a staggering 20 NFL game telecasts this season have been watched by 25 million viewers – more than double the total for the full 2012 season when there were eight with the lofty number.”
