The Buffalo News reports that Hamburg, New York, investigate Chicago Blackhawks player Patrick Kane for rape.

Sources told the publication that a “local woman has accused Kane of a sexual assault.” They also claim the woman went to a hospital where “tests using a rape kit were performed.” As of publication, Kane “has not been charged with any crime.”

“I can’t even confirm that there is an incident,” said Hamburg Police Chief Gregory G. Wickett. “We’re not confirming or denying that there is an investigation with Mr. Kane.”

The Conn Smythe Trophy recipient and three-time Stanley Cup champion originally hails from Buffalo and owns a home in Hamburg.

“We are aware of the matter and are in the process of gathering information,” stated the Blackhawks. “It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

The Buffalo News scoured social media to track Kane’s weekend activities. They found the 26-year-old played a round of golf at a country club and visited local diners during the evening. He attended SkyBar, a rooftop watering hole, one night, where he posed for a picture with the owner.

Another woman told The Buffalo News Kane went to a place called Anderson’s on Sunday night with three or four women. However, she said he “seemed to be spending most of his time looking at his smartphone.”

Authorities arrested Kane in 2009 after a taxi driver accused him of assault. Kane pleaded guilty and apologized to the man.
