Nov. 21 (UPI) — Tampa Bay Buccaneers speedster DeSean Jackson will wear Black Lives Matter and Rodney King-themed cleats as part of the league’s My Cause, My Cleats program.
Jackson posted footage of the special shoes Wednesday on his Instagram story. It is unknown if he will wear the shoes this week for the Buccaneers’ game against the San Francisco 49ers, as the program officially starts in Week 13 this season.
Jackson is wearing the shoes as part of the league’s My Cause, My Cleats program, which allows NFL players to sport custom-made kicks on the field, which they would typically be fined for.
His shoes are blue and black and say Black Lives Matter on one of the toe areas. The shoes also feature a photo of King, who was beaten by Los Angeles police in 1991.
The Under Armour cleats also have street signs on them featuring the names of the streets where the Los Angeles riots took place in 1992.

Jackson was fined in 2016 after he wore cleats with yellow caution tape painted on them. He said he wore the shoes to bring awareness to police brutality and violence within communities.
Players have the opportunity to raise funds for the cause of their choosing by auctioning off the cleats at NFL Auction. All of the funds raised will be donated to charities selected by players.
Tampa Bay faces the 49ers at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
