President Joe Biden’s administration announced on Tuesday that the pause on student loan payments will be extended until “no later than June 30, 2023,” while the legality of Biden’s attempted debt transfer is determined by federal courts.
President Biden’s Department of Education has removed the student debt relief application from its website, a day after a federal judge in Thursday declared the student loan forgiveness program unlawful.
The plan transfers the burden of the debt from borrowers to taxpayers.

A one-time debt fix will only encourage colleges to keep requiring students to take on too much debt.
