ABC News Finds Washington Post Falsehood, Buries It

You would think that a NEWS organization would consider it NEWS if it finds a falsehood in one of the biggest stories of the day.

But if you think that, you’re obviously under the mistaken impression our media is interested in anything other than getting Barack Obama reelected

This morning, the Washington Post ran a hit-piece on Mitt Romney in which the so-called reporter, Jason Horowitz (please remember him), read Romney’s 1965 teenage mind as anti-gay and told America this about a source of his: [emphasis added]

“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and has long been bothered by the Lauber incident.

ABC News, however, interviewed Mr. White and discovered that wasn’t at all true:

While the Post reports White as having “long been bothered” by the haircutting incident,” he told ABC News he was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.

And yet, in a story written by Emily Friedman, Emily Stanitz and Steven Portnoy, ABC News doesn’t lead with the finding of this falsehood, doesn’t make it the headline, and mentions it only in passing in the third paragraph before using the rest of the article to get back on narrative track to blast Romney as a vicious bully.

Welcome to a perfect example of how the media protects one another and keeps the narratives that aid and abet Obama on track.

The corrupt media refuses to create any kind of counter-narrative that might flip the primary narrative they’re all coordinating together on in its ear.

You might ask why ABC News bothered to report it at all. It’s called covering your behind. What if Mr. White releases a statement or talks to someone who reports that he already told ABC News about the Washington Post’  falsehood? Better to dutifully cover it and brush it aside than take the risk. There’s no downside handling it in this way.

The bottom line is that the media is no longer about news or facts or truth or even holding one another accountable.

It’s about getting Barack Obama reelected.
