NBC News is giving host Savannah Guthrie a shot to show them what she can do with the Nightly News as she spends the next few days filling in for temporary anchor Lester Holt.

As soon as the constant stream of lies uttered by NBC News anchor Brian Williams left him on a “hiatus” from his anchor job, some wondered if Savannah Guthrie might be in line to replace him. Now Guthrie is getting her shot at the seat when she fills in for Holt.

Officially Guthrie is only filling in for Holt while he deals with an emergency family health issue, but many assume that the eyes of network executives will be on Guthrie this week as she steps into the chair for Holt.

Williams was suspended after years of telling tall tales about his personal biography had finally caught up with him. After a week of criticism, Williams took a “hiatus” but it is a “self-suspension” from which few think he will ever return.
